About

Kelly Cuene is a career advisor and assists undergraduate business students with all aspects of their career development. She is pretty convinced she has the best job ever.

After graduating from college, she didn’t know what to do with her life.  She ended up working in a mailroom at her alma mater.  It wasn’t very glamorous, but she did get to drive around campus on a golf cart and learned a lot about bending with the knees when picking up heavy Fed Ex boxes.

While there, she realized that instead of nearly running over students with her golf cart on mail runs, she would rather help them maximize their college experience and make career decisions. It was an “aha” moment (don’t you love those?) when she realized she wanted to pursue a career in student affairs.

Like so many others, she thought relocating to New York City to pursue her career was the best idea ever. So off she went. It was good, for awhile, but soon she realized she missed beer, cheese and not being surrounded by 8 million people at all times. Plus, life in her over-priced 400 square foot apartment in no way resembled that of any character on Sex and the City.

Kelly then moved back to Wisconsin and now enjoys beer, cheese and wide open spaces on a regular basis. She has worked at all sorts of universities, including a small, private liberal arts college, a two-year community college, large private and large public institutions. Her higher ed experience includes student leadership programming, working with student organizations, financial aid and student veteran benefits, multicultural affairs, and, of course, career services.
